FIRST STEP: The preparation of a written report (self-evaluation report) providing evidence that the determined quality criteria have been met. The educational organisation selected in the call prepares a written report (self-evaluation report) in which it describes and provides proof that it meets the set quality criteria in the fields subject of expert external evaluation.
 
SECOND STEP:  The formation of groups of expert external evaluators, overview and assessment of the self-evaluation report. For the realisation of expert external evaluation in the selected educational organisation, a group of expert external evaluators is formed. The group reviews the educational organisations self-evaluation report and prepares for the visit in the educational organisation. 
 
THIRD STEP: The preparation and realisation of the visit of expert external evaluators in the educational organisation. Following the agreement between the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education, the group of expert external evaluators and the educational organisation subject to expert external evaluation, in this phase a detailed programme for the evaluators’ visit is prepared, then the visit is carried out. 
 
FOURTH STEP: The preparation of the report on the expert external evaluation. Based on the self-evaluation and the interviews conducted in the educational organisation, the group of expert external evaluators makes a final assessment on the achievement of the prescribed quality criteria, which is included in the final report of the expert external evaluation. It includes suggestions for quality improvement and development.
