In June we prepared the first meeting for the educational organisations and introduced them to the concept, fields and criteria and the entire procedure of the expert external evaluation.

In September we prepared training for expert educational evaluators, in which the participants familiarised themselves with the concept of expert external evaluation and learnt about the fields and criteria that are subject of evaluation in 2012. They used a case study to do a review and assessment of a fictional educational organisation’s self-evaluation and prepared suitable questions for the interviews to be conducted during the visit to an educational organisation. They familiarised themselves with the preparation and realisation of the visit and used role-play to prepare for it. At the end of the workshop the participants received guidelines for preparing the final report on the expert external evaluation.

The Slovenian Institute for Adult Education prepared the necessary instruments, documents and guidelines for the realisation of the pilot expert external evaluations. Six expert external evaluators carried out the evaluations together with their SIAE colleagues in two educational organisations between October and December 2012.

On 14 December 2012 we organised an evaluation workshop for all the participating expert external evaluators and representatives of the Ljudska univerza Šentjur and Ljudska univerza Murska Sobota, who were included in the pilot implementation of expert external evaluations. At the workshop, we debated the experiences of the expert external evaluators and the participating educational organisations in the process of expert external evaluation and formulated joint conclusions to complete the concept of expert external evaluation in adult education. We ended our work together with some refreshments and the hope for continuing successful cooperation in 2013.
